Prince: Where The River Runs Deep

Grafton has a way of staying with you, even when you’ve left its streets behind. Nestled in the Clarence Valley, part of the NSW Northern Rivers region, it’s a town where life moves gently but with purpose. Every spring, Prince Street is cloaked in a purple haze as jacaranda blooms spill across the main street, the highlight of the year. It’s a fleeting, magical moment that leaves an imprint, shaping the way you carry home with you long after childhood ends.

I grew up here, the youngest of four kids, along the banks of the Clarence River. Summers meant Christmas holidays at Wooli, cramped in a tiny caravan, six of us squeezing in together, and weekends at Yamba, chasing the tide and soaking in the sun. My parents, deeply rooted in the community — my dad now serving as mayor — taught us the value of connection, family, and belonging. Even now, I return to the family home to re-centre myself, to walk the riverbanks, and to take in the quiet beauty of the valley.

The Prince swim brief encapsulates all of that nostalgia and natural beauty. Its deep navy base reflects the Clarence River’s depth, while green zig-zags echo the winding river channels and neat sugar cane fields of the valley. Bold yet understated, stoic yet alive, it’s a design that depicts a sense of place and a piece of my story.

Prince is my homage to home, family, and connection. Anchored in Grafton but resonating far beyond, it’s a story we can all relate to of streets, rivers, and childhood corners that quietly shape who we become. As the primary piece in the Origins collection, Prince goes beyond just a fashionable pair of swim briefs. It’s a story you can wear, a reminder that the places that nurtured you can move with you in unexpected ways. Available in XS–XXL.

The Clarence Valley itself is a place of discovery. From the coastline at Yamba to rainforest trails around Iluka, and villages like Ulmarra, every corner offers space to explore, reflect, and reconnect with what matters. Like the river that runs through it, the valley quietly shapes life, teaching lessons in patience, resilience, and belonging. Prince carries that essence; the jacaranda haze, the winding channels, the laughter of summers past, and the grounding presence of home.

Slide into a pair of Smithers' new Prince swim briefs and wear a piece of the Clarence Valley with you, wherever life takes you.
